hi everyone,
today’s my mom’s ninetieth birthday! Happy b’day Eve!
we were looking up in the dictionary what that word would be we’d be calling her, which previously had been “octagenarian” and “septuagenarian,” when lo and behold we realized there IS no word in the two dictionaries i looked, for someone living in their nineties, although, of course, there is for those in their 100s, namely, a centenarian. in latin, nine is “novum”… so you’d think the word for someone living in their nineties would be a “nova-genarian.” but no such word is found.
so! I propose…in honor of my mother’s famously and endearing (ahem!)peculiarity, i propose we call HER, at least, as she enters her nineties, the esteemed clarifying name of a “KNOW-IT-ALL-genarian.”
kiss, hug, lots of great wishes to you and many more b’days, mom!
